5 Tips on How to Have a Great Time at a Frat Party
Wear something comfortable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but appropriate.
Guys,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a nice polo shirt will do for a frat party (a button down for daytime) -- you don't want to be too dressed up and therefore labeled as a "tool" by the frat boys. DO NOT wear anything from Abercrombie,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Hollister, American Eagle,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or (god forbid) Aeropostale. If you can't afford Polo, go to an outlet mall. And never dress in theme unless you are a brother, a rush,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or a good friend whose own frat is on probation.
Girls -- anything that fits well and you feel confident in, as long as it's not too revealing. Ignore what your mother said 10 years ago. People at parties (especially those of the fraternal variety) are generally a) inebriated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or b) uninhibited by way of dark lighting and party atmosphere. Therefore,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is usually safe to be friendlier than normal here. A good rule to follow is to leave around 1:30-1:45 am, depending on the radness of the party. If it's particularly good,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it might be tempting to stay longer to enjoy more of the party. Avoid this at all costs. Before you know it, it'll be 3 am and you'll be one of the two people left at the party and being physically kicked out by a tired and inebriated fraternity brother. Not cool.
Girls AND guys: Watch your drinks at all times. Pour your own if you can; if not, watch the person preparing it. Never set it down. Carry it with you on the dance floor if you have to.
Extra deodorant,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], cologne,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and perfume is a must. Sweaty dance floors + crowded rooms = sticky situations. Just be careful not to overdo it.
When a member of the opposite sex gives you an invitation back to his or her room,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Be very forward,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Immediately ask the question "Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?" They may be a little taken back by this question but it will send the right message to any teases quickly.
When you are on the dance floor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], throw your hands up in the air like you just don't care. Always be occupied with a member of the opposite sex or pretend like you are looking for someone. You never want to be the awkward guy or girl alone on the dance floor without a partner.
If one of your friends is getting with a grenade try to get them out of the situation immediately at all cost. They will thank you in the morning.
Be aware of sketchy people,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and people wanting to handle your drink for you. This might seem paranoid, but it's just a way to protect yourself.
Jungle juice: An extremely potent drink mixed by frat boys. Be wary of this. If you are a lightweight drunk, do not drink it by any means.
If you're in the US: Be prepared to RUN if the cops show up and check for underage drinkers (under 21). Park a block away from the house if you have to; police are known to stake out particularly large frat parties and set up random checkpoints along Frat Row. Be smart. Drink smart.
Don't be tempted to stay past 2 am. Then it seems like you have nowhere better to go.
Do not become the person who blacks out at a party. You do not want people to remember you as "Blackout (Insert Last Name Here)",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Beware of brawls. If brothers from an opposing frat decide to crash the party, be prepared to clear out quick in case a ridiculous prank/drunken fight brings the cops to the house.
