Actually I think he's been wearing it for most of the preseason. I seem to recall some camp photos from fans and thinking the visor looked different this season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Who cares what it looks like? I imagine he made the change because he wanted something different performance-wise,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not looks-wise. If LT thinks it'll help him be better,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who are we to argue?
As for the Giants' helmets,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if they help reduce the number of concussions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], what difference does it make what they look like? (I'm assuming that's why a change was made to the helmet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since this has been the concussion-watch offseason.)
It's possible that, during training camp, LT is wearing this monstrosity for two reasons:
1. His vision, reaction time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and quickness will improve.
2,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. He's being paid big money by a facemask manufacturer to be seen and photographed in that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Either way, it's stupid for a receiving running back to have that much weight and obstruction in his face.
If it's a safety issue that prompted them to make that change to the helmet (and I'm assuming it is, I don't know this for a fact), then it doesn't matter what it looks like. First and foremost should be the player's health. And that is a business decision,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since it doesn't look good for the sport to have guys spouting nonsense because their brains no longer work properly (boxing comes to mind.)
Also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I think that if these unis stick around, or those helmets become mainstream, 5 years from now you won't remember how much you disliked the change and will be buying unis and memorabilia just like you were last year. It is the nature of things like the NFL.
On top of that, from the response I've seen to the new unis,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], most people seem to like the new look for the Chargers. Also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I would venture to say that you are in the minority even in terms of those who don't like the new unis. Even people who aren't too thrilled with them will generally continue to buy them in order to support their team.
I seriously doubt that your not buying a uni because of the change is going to make any difference to the Chargers uni sales. I've already seen a whole lot of new Chargers unis, and I live in Riverside where the Chargers tend to not be as popular as the Raiders.
And then there are a bunch of people like me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who really like the new look, and are therefore much more likely to buy one of these unis than the old ones (which looked old, btw.)
