Start a Street Devils Program Today!
The Fall of 1997 brought the introduction of the NHL/Devils street hockey program DEVILS to the state of New Jersey. Our goal is to build a better future for today's youth through the establishment of organized athletic programs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. These types of programs are helping to create an even stronger following for the future of the franchise.
Street Devils is a street hockey program. Street hockey is a dry land variation of ice hockey that can be played outdoors on a blacktop surface,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], net-less tennis courts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], basketball courts or indoors on a gymnasium floor.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF STREET DEVILS?
The purpose of Street Devils is to provide children with an athletic and educational program free of charge,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], through local community centers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hockey rinks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and schools. This program introduces thousands of kids to hockey, a team sport that combines speed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], athletic ability and sportsmanship. Street Devils will enable schools/ community/hockey rink centers to expand their recreational programs and provide kids with an opportunity to learn and participate in a new sports activity.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Street Devils is targeted for boys and girls, ages 6-16,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who live in the state of New Jersey.
WHAT IS NEEDED TO PLAY,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
All that you need to play is a pair of sneakers. The New Jersey Devils and the NHL will loan street hockey equipment (sticks, rubber pucks and balls,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], nets and protective goalie gear) to your community center.
HOW DO PARTICIPANTS LEARN THE RULES,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
The rules of Street Devils are similar to those of ice hockey with a few unique changes. The New Jersey Devils will provide a start-up street hockey clinic for coaches and administrators. Training and informational manuals will be given to coaches, while all Street Devils participants will receive individual playbooks.
HOW TO TAKE STREET DEVILS TO A NEW LEVEL?
Several participating centers take Street Devils to a new level by incorporating playoffs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], super-skills contest, end of season award ceremonies/pizza parties and Street Devils t-shirts.
WHERE DO I GO TO PARTICIPATE?
Contact your local community center to see if they are an Official Program Center of Street Devils. If they are not,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], call the New Jersey Devils at 1-800-NJ-DEVIL,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ask for the Grassroots department and a representative will direct you to your nearest "Official Program Center."
