Bail for ex-Hawk Mookie Blaylock set at $250K in fatal accident case
JONESBORO, Ga.,michael kors outlet online, June 11 () -- A Georgia judge Tuesday set bail at $250,000 for former Atlanta Hawks player Mookie Blaylock on charges stemming from a car crash that killed a mother of five.Clayton County Judge Daphne Walker said Blaylock -- who turned himself in to authorities Monday after being seriously injured in the May 31 accident -- would remain under house arrest as a condition of his bond, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported. Blaylock, 46, is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, driving on a suspended license, failure to maintain lane and crossing a center median. The wreck in suburban Atlanta killed 40-year-old Monica Murphy and injured both Murphy's husband and Blaylock. He was wanted under an outstanding Spalding County, Ga., drunken driving warrant at the time of the crash, authorities said. "I believe often times DUIs are vehicular homicides that didn't occur," Walker said. "It's something that I take very seriously, even though under the law they're treated as misdemeanors."Blaylock attorney Don Samuel argued at the arraignment his wheelchair-bound client's bail should be set at $50,jimmy choo outlet,000 because he isn't a flight risk, the newspaper reported."This is not the day for punishment," the attorney said. "The day will come when we ultimately decide how this case should be handled."
