3 years after Haiti earthquake

She was just 15 at the time. Faith Grosshans kept a journal about what happened that fateful day.

Faith and I were among a group of 40 volunteers with New Missions, an Orlando-based organization dedicated to helping children and their families in Haiti, when the earthquake hit.
About a half-hour later, I recorded a video message to send to my family and loved ones back home:

The dangerous mission was complete, but hearts and lives were changed forever.
"I definitely think my outlook on life -- and on my family and friends,[url=http://duveticaonline.halod.com/][b]デュベティカ店舗[/b][/url], and how important they are to me,[url=http://duveticaonline.halod.com/][b]デュベティカダウンジャケット[/b][/url], and how important our time here is -- has changed," said Faith. "You get such a compassion for the people, and they become family. They are not strangers."
Faith knew from the moment we were rescued, she wanted to head back and help. She finally got that opportunity two years later, in March 2012.
"I think the biggest thing for me was going through Port-au-Prince for the first time," she said. "I was seeing rubble from the earthquake,[url=http://duveticajacketsoutletjp.albirank.net/][b]ダウンジャケットレディース[/b][/url], and one of the things I was thinking about was how much people had already forgotten about it, and how much hope is still needed."

"Those that are there are very thankful for their lives," said New Missions President Tim DeTellis. "Over the last three years,[url=http://monclerdeutschland.albirank.net/][b]http://monclerdeutschland.albirank.net/[/b][/url], in my numerous return visits to Haiti, I've seen, really, a level of confidence in the Haitians that there is a new future for Haiti."
A future Faith said she hopes to be a part of, as she prepares to head back again on Sunday, just one day after the three-year mark since the deadly earthquake.
This time, however, she'll be accompanied by her mom.
"I really have a desire to see what she saw," said Carol Grosshans.
To see and experience hope in Haiti, three years later.
"Are people finding their passions? What are they passionate about? If you are passionate about helping the homeless, then go help the homeless. If you are passionate about helping Haiti, then help Haiti," said Faith.
A challenge from this bright 18-year-old that each of us can make a difference.
